Gravel Routes in the Scottish Borders
The Scottish Borders is a great place to dive into your next adventure on a gravel bike. With an abundance of forestry tracks and quiet roads to connect them, you can create your own gravel adventure, or cycle exsiting routes or take part in events. Here are a few suggestions:
The Reiver Raid
The Reiver Raid, created by Bikepacking Scotland, is a 105 mile loop starting and finshing at Tweedbank. While some parts of the route will require good handling skills, it is a route suitable for gravel bikes. More information and the GPX files can be found here.
The Capital Trail
The Capital Trail is another Bikepacking Scotland route which starts and finishes on Portobello Beach in Edinburgh and crosses the Scottish Borders. It includes the Borders towns of Lauder, Melrose, Selkirk, Innerleithen and Peebles, and parts of it can be ridden as day adventures. In dry conditions the route is suitable for experienced gravel riders. More information and the GPX file can be found here.
