This short loop takes you south from Hawick following the river upstream before a steep climb up the southern flank of Vertish Hill.

There is a steep and twisting descent down to Branxholm Bridgend before crossing the River Teviot. Further on there is another crossing by means of a footbridge across the Borthwick Water. Head back towards Hawick skirting the north side of Wilton Park.
