Tour of Britain – A Grand Day Out

If visiting the Scottish Borders for the Tour of Britain, you might want to make a day of it. There is much to see and do in and around Kelso whether you just want a relaxing lunch, a browse in the local shops or want to experience some culture.

Floors Castle, home to the Duke of Roxburghe, will be open for the day from 10.30 and if you park in their grounds the car parking ticket offers a discount to the Castle. You can also visit Kelso Abbey which is open from 9.30-5.30. One of four spectacular Border Abbeys, here you can see some wonderful examples of Romanesque architecture.

There are also many cycling routes on offer as Kelso is on the majority of our long distance routes through the area. There is also a fine collection of shorter loops from the town that might suit you for a morning ride before the Tour comes to town in the afternoon. Why not check out our routes here.
