Tour of Britain - volunteers

The organisers of the Tour of Britain require some volunteers from cycle clubs to help them.

Providing the elite riders and spectators with the most enjoyable, safe experience possible is a priority for SweetSpot as Race Organiser. To assist in the safe and successful delivery of the race and help ensure that the event runs as smoothly as possible, Sweetspot require volunteer marshals for the Stage 1 sprints and koms in the Scottish Borders.

Last year they launched a specific volunteer initiative aimed at cycling clubs and successfully engaged with clubs along the route of the respective stages of The 2016 Tour of Britain. They received a positive response to this initiative. Club members turned out in all weather conditions to provide enthusiastic support and invaluable assistance to the crew.

The key locations for Stage 1 are as follows:-

Sprint Locations:-
• Gifford – East Lothian
• Coldstream
• Melrose

KoM Locations:-
• Redstone Rig – East Lothian
• Scotts View
• Dingleton

Sweetspot are seeking at least 10 volunteers from local cycling clubs or local community groups to assist Tour of Britain staff at each of the sprints and KoMs until the riders and final vehicle in the race convoy have passed through the sections.
